Session 4

Monday 29th March 2021 at 10am

dedicated to pedagogy of Russian.

Presenter Natalia V. Parker (University of Leeds):

  • we will first have a look at what research has to say about the causes for these difficulties in learning Russian, analysing how Russian grammar is presented by teachers and processed by learners
  • we will explore possible ways of how these research findings could help us address these difficulties in the teaching of Russian grammar.
  • We will discuss how we can make grammar instruction more “processable”, why integrating it with communicative language practice could be helpful,
  • and finally we will look at how that could be possible within the time restrictions of a school syllabus and whether it is applicable to different levels.

The webinar will consist of a few short presentations, with discussions, there will be group-work and you will all leave with a lesson plan ready to teach!
There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss and comment on various issues, ask questions, as well as making suggestions.

Past Events

the Annual RTG CONFERENCE 2022

a message from 2022:

It has been a really tough few months for all of us and on all levels.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the events in Ukraine.

I am sure that there is not a single member of our community that has not been affected by the horror of these events.

Therefore, we, like never before, need each other for support and unity, for inspiration and motivation to keep us going.

So we decided to go ahead with the annual Conference and welcomed our participants on the 14th of May, 2022 at the Forest School in London https://www.forest.org.uk/contact/

We would focused on the following

  • discuss the current state of affairs with RFL
  • recruitment and retainment of students
  • exchange of good practice and ideas
  • how can we help our subject flourish in the current political climate

The guest speakers included Yulia Amlinskaya (TBC) the founder of the Russificate School in Spain, Rosamund Bartlett (TBC) who spoke about the Russian Literature and a special guest with ample knowledge of the exam process!

We also run a carousel of activities sharing good practice and ideas.

There was a session on new resources and materials too.
